“My case is simple: Britain can be better. For you, your family and our country.” With these words Ed Miliband launched the Labour Party manifesto for the forthcoming General Election. Launched in Manchester, the scene of last year’s party conference speech which failed to mention the deficit, the manifesto has not made the same mistake twice. The need to tackle the deficit is mentioned throughout. The battle lines of Labour’s campaign have been drawn – fiscal responsibility, the NHS and fighting for hardworking people by tackling vested interests.
