With much of Westminster focused on the Government’s intense efforts to find a Brexit deal ahead of the crunch summit this week, this morning the Queen delivered the 2019 Queen’s Speech.
Health, immigration, environment and crime were the key areas featured as the Government set out its new legislative agenda intended for a post-Brexit Britain.
Given the turbulent political climate and the Government’s loss of its majority in the House of Commons, attention will now turn to whether the Queen’s Speech will be approved by Parliament. If Parliament rejects it, renewed calls for a general election will no doubt materialise.
