Prof. Michael Rotert studied business science at the University of Karlsruhe, and went on to work there as Technical Director of the Computer Center of the Informatics Faculty. In 1985 he initiated the first Internet connection at a German university. In June 1999, Michael Rotert was awarded the title of Honorary Professor in the field of informatics. Moving into business, Michael was the founder and Executive Director of Xlink, one of the first internet access providers in Germany. Subsequently he became as Executive Director and Senior Vice-President of KPNQWest. In 2000, he became chairman of eco (German ISP Trade Association) and was elected President of EuroISPA (European Internet Services Providers Association) (2003-2007) and Vice President (2008-2009). Michael is a long standing expert and consultant for the EU, UN, CoE and the U.S. Department of Commerce. He is also a non-executive director of several startup companies in Germany.
