Business Development Lead – London

We are looking for an enthusiastic and outgoing individual with at least two years sales or business development experience to lead on business development for Political Intelligence, an independent public affairs agency. Working closely with the senior management team, you will devise and implement a business development strategy to drive and win new business. Relevant experience in sales or business development in public affairs or wider policy sector is desirable.

The role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our friendly London team, based in the City. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, entrepreneurial, well-organised, and with first-rate communication skills. They will play a significant role in contributing to the overall strategic direction of the company and have responsibility for the full business development cycle. Key requirements include:

  • Cultivating and managing a new business development pipeline
  • Researching organisations and individuals to identify and develop new leads
  • Working with our core sector teams to develop engaging content for our target market
  • Proactively contacting leads to establish relationships and set up meetings
  • Strong telephone manner with the ability to make successful introductions through cold call approaches
  • Preparing and delivering presentations and other sales and marketing materials
  • Representing the company at external meetings, conferences and events
  • Meeting new business opportunity and revenue targets
  • Helping support our existing client base where relevant

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ sales and/or business development experience.
  • Experience or interest within the political or policy arena is desirable but not essential
  • The ability to work independently and proactively but also as part of a team
  • A good communicator and strong networker
  • Strong organisational skills and the self-motivation to make the role their own
  • Strong work ethic, willing to be proactive and persistent
  • Competence in using various sales channels (CRM tools, LinkedIn, email campaign tools)
