“The NHS is our country’s most precious institution and Labour’s proudest achievement” – so says the first line of Labour’s A Better Plan for the NHS, Health and Care; their dedicated health manifesto for the forthcoming general election published at the weekend.
That the party saw fit to specifically publish a distinct manifesto for the NHS would allude to its electoral importance for Labour, and indeed all main political parties.
