Javier Valiente graduated in Economics and Business Studies at Leeds University (UK) and University of Valencia (Spain). He also followed postgraduate studies in International Business in Leeds and European and International Studies in Sophie-Antipolis (France) and holds an MBA on E-Business of the IE Business School in Madrid. After completing a training period at the International Aspects of Telecommunications and the Information Society Unit of DG XIII in the European Commission, he started to work as a Public Affairs independent consultant in Brussels and run several lobbying initiatives with the European institutions that involved the design and coordination of European Campaigns. As a Brussels-based consultant, he also worked with Lancashire Enterprises, where he regularly co-ordinated projects for the European Commission on Research, Technology Development and Innovation. He also worked on the follow-up of Research & Technology Transference projects organising seminars on the mainstreaming of Regional Innovation & Regional Information Society Initiatives. Back in Spain since 2000, Javier Valiente has coordinated, as Managing Partner of PI Spain, a wide range of lobbying campaigns for different sectors including energy, finance, telecoms, IT, media, transport and environment. He has coordinated lobbying campaigns on the introduction of several EU Directives into Spain. Javier Valiente is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Italian. Javier Valiente is founding member and Board Director of the Spanish PA Professional, the Asociación de Profesionales de las Relaciones Institucionales (APRI).
